Books, Horses, Music, We've Got It All!

Just an update and some thoughts...

Well. Last week I fell off Dori in my horse back riding lesson. It was a really funny fall too. I sat up, sat there for a moment and went to catch Dori. My instructor made me jump a line a thousand times until I got it right. Dori was going really fast, and my instructor had me do it until I slowed her down. When I got back from my lesson I was really sick because of the heat. Also, my half chaps rub my legs raw, and when I got back from my lesson and took off my chaps, my legs and breeches were bloody. Nice huh? I guess what they say is true. No pain, no gain.

I finally started reading the Harry Potter series. I tried reading the books when it first came out and I couldn't get into it. But on Sunday, I read the entire book in one day. And I took a nap, because I hadn't been sleeping lately. I'm currently on The Chamber of Secrets. I'm loving it. I'm almost finished with The Eyes Of The Dragon by Stephen King. I'm going to read The Shining next.

An update on Projekt Revolution. I currently have 20 dollars. I need 75 dollars. I'm pathetic.

My hair is red! I know, random, but I wanted to say it. My best friend and I, in a couple weeks, are going to Hot Topic and getting hair dye. She wants lime green streaks. I was thinking blue. I trying to convince my mom to let me get bangs. Not going so well.

Well. Hmmm. I am about THE COOLEST person on earth.

No I'm not. I'm just shitting you now.

Anywhoosies, I was in a horse show today. And will you please guess what places I got? 5th in the flat class. And, drumroll please... 1st in the jumping class! I swear Mikey was AMAZING! I was so sure that he was going to refuse, but he didn't and it was damn pretty. It was only an eight jump course. Nothing too hard. I have never won anything in a jumping class before so this was really fun.

Downside, I totally screwed up the flat class. I got the wrong lead when the judge asked us to canter. I still had a total blast and all my friends placed well too.

I love my horse! (Well, he really isn't my horse, but I love him to death.)

Wednesday Group Lesson 5/2/07

I rode Dori in my lesson yesterday. It was pretty exciting. First, when we were cantering she launched into a series of bucks. Then, I took a turn to tight and she scooted and took off. Then when went outside to jump, we worked on rollbacks. That was realllllly hard. Dori kept spooking in the corners. Have you heard of the horse-eating bushes? Or the horse eating tractor? Gawd. Crazy horses.

Show Time!

I was in a jumper show yesterday. I had the best time. I got to ride Mikey and Star let me use her show bridle on him. He looked good in it, considering it took me two hours to clean it.

I was really nervous beforehand, because I had four courses to remember. The first half of the first class went okay. I had to hit Mikey with the crop to get him going, and he gave the biggest buck I have ever felt in my life and I almost fell off. But I jumped the course with no faults and got to go to the jump-off. That went great! The second class didn't go as well. Mikey refused a jump and I didn't get into the jump-off. I still had a awesome time!

Naughty Pony Night!

We had Naughty Pony Night in my group lesson yesterday. I rode Feathers, Lauren rode Diesel, Nicole rode Stella, Lily rode Chuckles, Allison rode Radar, and KC rode Sammy. We had so much fun. We did all sorts of different exercises at the trot. For example, we had to stand straight up in the stirrups. If you had your heels down correctly, then you would be able to stay up. On to the jumping. Feathers likes to charge at jumps and then refuse. The first couple times where ok, but when we did three jumps at the last one she refused and I almost fell off. Everybody clapped when I saved myself. But, when I went back to the jump, another horse spooked and Feathers spooked and bucked and I fell off. Oh well. I was due for a fall. After that I asked my instructor if I had to do that again. She said yes. ;-) Anyway, Lauren (Who rides Feathers a lot and knows all of her tricks) said I needed to growl. So I did. Loudly. She went over it. Then we cooled down our horses. It was a fun night!!!

A Farewell to Barbaro

I have just found out that Barbaro had to be put to sleep. He could not bear any weight on his injured leg. Barbaro was a magnificent animal and he will always be in our hearts. Rest in Peace.

Well, I have now fallen off Rain four times. I was re-getting on to walk around outside and she bucked and I fell off. Then she took off galloping to her field. Damn pony. I still love her, but she sure love to be bad for me. She is perfect for her owner. Go figure.

My lesson was awesome. I got to ride Stella. She is a blast. We were going so fast to those jumps. I can't wait to ride her again.

My school barn work went great. I didn't get stuck in the mudshit either.

Bowling for Columbine

This morning I watched Bowling for Columbine with my brother. It's a documentary about guns and violence in America. It was fascinating. It mentioned two school shootings and it showed how easy it is to get your hands on a gun. Did you know that the United States has the highest murder rate than any other country? It was completely moving. It also makes you think about how messed up people can be. I mean, I don't think that the U.S. is quite the golden country we say it is. It also made me realize how politically oblivious I am. I did not know that the United States originally helped Saddam Hussein and bought him weapons. This movie was a real eye opener for me. I highly recomend it.

I'm gonna be in a SHOW!!!

Well my first official show is tomorrow. I have done a couple of barn shows, but the is the real deal. You have to wear the complete show outfit. I get to ride Chuckles!

Star let me hop on Mikey because I helped around the barn. I cantered no stirrups on him! He was really good. After, I groomed him and put on his blanket.

I also rode Rain. She was a perfect angel. I'm surprised!

My friend was also going out to ride her horse bareback and I went to watch because I had nothing to do. She even let me get on him! After I quickly tacked up Rain and went outside to meet her. I rode with her for about ten minutes.

Well that was my day. It was great!

I rode CHUCKLES!

And I must say, God that pony is FAST! We were zooming over those jumps. I couldn't get her to trot the first one. The weird thing is, she is so slow when we are not jumping!

I got to ride Mikey! Star asked me to ride him and he was just a bundle of energy! It was so fun. He bucked a couple times and got a little quick, but it was still very fun! I cooled him and groomed him for an hour afterwards. He got lots of treats too!

I also rode Rain and got to canter her for the first time. Star said she was going to be bad but she was ok. She got very fast and did some head shakes but otherwise it was pretty good.

School barn went great. No problems, I am gettin' into the full swing of things!

I am really excited to go to the barn tomorrow. I get to ride Rain and I have my group lesson. I am also going to ask Rain's owner if it is ok to canter her. She doesn't feel tired at all when I ride her at a walk and trot so I thought I would ask. Here is a picture of Rain:

I have awesome news! I might have a new job riding a horse. I was helping a little girl(She would probably kill me if she heard that I called her a little girl) tack up. Her horses' name is Josiah is he is such a sweetheart. So I was helping her tack up an I said I would love to ride him, you know in a admiring way. Well she said that they would PAY ME! So I didn't believe it of course and asked her if she was serious and she said yes. So I asked Star and she said it would be fine, so know I just have to talk to the girl's(Gaby) mother. So I might get to ride an ARABIAN!

A Great Day...

First it started with Rain being a very good girl. I had to lunge her outside because there was too many people in the ring. She was a little frisky because of the weather, and the fact that she's Rain!

I went to ask Star for something to do, and I ended up organizing some of her office. I was finished with one part so I was going to ask her for something else, but she was on the phone and she can talk for FOREVER! So I just took the lesson sheets and went down to the school barn.

I got Meghan's horse and sent her off. Then I had a couple lesson horses to get. Then it was time for my big group lesson. I had five horses to get for that. I really like when they all come because they are my friends. We all joked and goofed off. But when they left it was time for me to get back to my job. Darn!

I was feeling a little bad about my riding and just a little disappointed in myself. Sometimes it doesn't progress as fast as I'd like it too. And all my friends in my group lesson want me to be in their lesson and I want to also. So I talked to Star so maybe I can improve a little faster and get in their lesson. YAY!

RAIN!

Rain went awesome for me today. I got on her by myself with no problems. I don't even need a lunge whip to make her "go" anymore. She is really blossoming into a sweet lovable girl. She and I have really bonded. She loves her treats too!

My lesson went OK. I tried really hard today. I'm getting better. It's hard with Dori because you have to hold her to make her slow down. Also on my way to the second jump SHE WOULDN'T CANTER! Can you tell that I was a bit frustrated?

Oh well. I've got next week!

P.S. I'm riding Deirdra on Friday. Wish me luck. Hope I don't get killed. LOL!

I rode Rain again and it went really well! I can stay on the first time and she doesn't buck because I don't let her. I hope she is starting to respect me. Jenn said I need to be a little more tough on her because she has a "tude". Well she is a pony!

I also got to ride Ugly bareback! Star wanted to see if he was still lame, so she told me to slap a bridle on him and hop on! He was still lame which is sad, but hardly life threatening! What was weird to me was that I could feel his spine moving! I haven't ridden bareback in forever so it took me a moment to get used to it.

My shift working in the school barn went well. No mistakes, all went smoothly. I bet you were tired of hearing about all the episodes!
